It is one of the most widely used wood products. It is flexible, cheap, workable, and recyclable. Plywood is used instead of plain wood because of its resistance to cracking, shrinkage, and twisting/warping, and its general high degree of strength. Veneers are obtained either by “peeling” the trunk of a tree or by slicing large rectangular blocks of wood known as flitches. The appearance of the grain and figure in wood comes from slicing through the growth rings of a tree and depends upon the angle at which the wood is sliced. PP Foil’s key advantage is its proof against humidity and water, that it is resistant to rot and fungus, and that it acts as a barrier against steam and formaldehyde. Steel and Aluminium Steel and aluminium are a very popular choice of surface within the off shore and marine industries. We offer our customers galvanised and stainless steel a in standard thickness of 0.7 mm. Aluminium offers advantages in situations where weight is a crucial factor. Aluminium surfaces are anodised using chromium. A thin, airtight layer of oxide then prevents the oxygen from reaching more metal. |
